Adopt or Foster Today

Introducing ….

Your future best friend

Thank your for considering giving a home to a pet in need. There are two ways you can do this:

ADOPT

FOSTER

Adopt

Adopting is the best way to provide a “forever home” for a rescued dog or cat. Your commitment to your new pet is for life, and you will have responsibility for meeting, to the best of your abilility, all of his/her needs.

There is a one-time fee of 2 million VND (~ 85 USD) when you adopt a dog. This covers a fraction of the cost of immunizations, operations, and other medical care, food, and other expenses that Hanoi Pet Rescue has paid to rescue and care for your new friend.

You are ready to adopt if:

  • You are ready to commit to a lifetime with your new pet.  (Dogs and cats can live up to 16 years old! )
  •  You are patient and have time to train your new pet the things they don’t instinctively know like where to go to the toilet.
  • You are prepared to move your new pet with you no matter where you go. Even if this means another country.
  • You are financially able to support and care for your new pet. This includes a one-time fee of 2 million VND (~ 85 USD) adoption fee.
  • You are a responsible person leads by example in the pet community and helps us in our mission for better treatment of pets. Meaning, you clean up after their dog goes to the bathroom outside, you are considerate of those fearful of dogs, you follow the laws around pet ownership, etc.

We cannot overstate this: if you are an expat living in Hanoi or you can make only a temporary committment, please consider fostering instead of adoption (scroll down for how to do that).

Not sure you are ready to adopt just yet?

Why not foster an animal and help them find their forever home.

Adoption Process:

  1. Choose time slot for interviewing
  2. Interview
  3. If you pass the interview, the interviewer will give you the link to register for a time slot to pick up a dog
  4. Prepare the documents before picking up the dog:
    *ID card
*Photocopy of your ID card (we will keep it)
  5. We will call you to confirm the time to pick up the dog(s)
  6. Enjoy your happy time with them

Foster

Fostering a dog is also a great way to help! You get companionship for as long as you can keep the pet (or until he/she i adopted), and the dog gets loved, cared for, and socialized more individually than is possible in the shelter. You can become a foster for no fee, and Hanoi Pet Rescue will help with major medical and other expenses.  Feeding, grooming, exercising, and all the other responsibilities and joys of caring for a pet will be your responsibility while you are providing foster care.

This is a great option if you want to have a companion now but don’t know how long you’ll be in Hanoi, whether you’ll be moving to a place that doesn’t allow pets, or otherwise cannot make a commitment for the lifetime of the pet.

You would make a great foster if:

  • You love cats and dogs but can not commit to adoption.
  • You are dedicated to working on any behavioural issues and training your foster pet might need to help them find the forever home they deserve.
  • You have time to bring your foster pet for walks and social meet ups where they get to other dogs. (This is a great way to spot any behavioural issues that need to be noted when finding their perfect home.)
  • Your house does not have too many people living there. This can confuse your new pet when consistency is needed for training.
  • You understand the goal is to find your foster pet their dream home and are actively helping the shelter achieve this. (Sharing photos and pet updates on social media and well as asking your community is a huge help for us!)
